Exploring the Jungles of Jupiter and the
mangrove environment of the lower Loxahatchee. This feature was designed to help you find experiences you want to TRY... not just look at!
The Loxahatchee is a beautiful and peaceful river , and a wilderness
experience one would never expect to find in Florida.
The 15 miles
or so of cypress trees and mangroves begins as a dense forest
canopy at the headwaters, gradually widening into a more typical
mangrove environment, and ultimately flowing into the intercoastal
waterway and out the Jupiter inlet.
A Sea Kayak is the perfect tool (read as toy) to rent for experiencing
this unspoiled wilderness area.
We used an outfitter called Southern
Exposure to obtain our kayaks, and ended up following some of
their regulars down this river.
