Over all my years of diving, two turtles in particular stand
out. Raja and Robert. They were big beautiful loggerheads,
and I came to know them very well. I knew Robert for 16
years. I would know when he would be here, and I'd visit him
daily. He used to love to have his shell cleaned. The
barnacles are a large anoyance to the turtles, and clearly
slow them down. When I'd begin cleaning off the barnacles,
Roger would just lie there with a big smile on his face, and
you could feel his contentment.

Many years ago I attended a
Turtle symposium, where a noted scientist was telling
everyone that sea turtles could hold their breath for about
20 to 30 minutes.
